In a move to boost the recycling and reuse of industrial waste, the UAE’s Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has launched a $4m (AED15m) pre-treatment and crusher facility for spent pot lining (SPL) in Al Taweelah (pictured), Abu Dhabi, which is the largest structure of its kind in the Gulf. SPL is the used inner lining of reduction cells that are used to smelt aluminium, and is considered to be a key waste stream in the aluminium industry.
